Summer of Light & Colour at The Box

Today sees the opening of the Summer shows at The Box, with exhibition design by Intercity. Reframing Reynolds: A Celebration marks 300 years since the birth of Sir Joshua Reynolds, while Dappled Light is an exciting collaboration with London-based visual artist Rana Begum.

Originally included as a complimentary font with the book Type 1: Digital Typeface Design, written by Intercity's Nathan Gale in 2002, LL Asphalt has recently been given a new lease of life. Renamed LL Pirelli VIP, the font has been extended to contain six elaborate versions of the original design.

New Season of Exhibitions at The Box

Last week saw the opening of the new season of exhibitions at The Box, with design work by Intercity. The Spring shows run to 4 June and highlight female artists, including Quinlan & Hastings and Sue Williamson, as well showcasing work from The Box’s own art collection.

Unveiled on 4 June 2022, Intercity had the honour of designing a stone-mounted plaque for Pharmakon, a bronze sculpture created by Still Moving for the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology at the University of Exeter.

Intercity have worked with major new museum, art gallery and archive, The Box, on the exhibition design of Family & Friends: Reynolds at Port Eliot. The exhibition explores the relationship between portrait artist Joshua Reynolds and the Eliot family.

What Has To Be... at the G7 Summit

Conceived to connect the G7 summit in Cornwall to COP26 in Glasgow, artist collective Still/Moving ran workshops in Rame and Carbis Bay to discover what local people felt needed to be said, transforming their thoughts into light sculptures using the modular typographic system designed by Intercity.

We’re pleased to say that Zero, the free typeface we released at the start of this year, has been used for a feature about Google’s Moonshot Factory in the March issue of Wired magazine (UK edition). The bold and creative layouts make great use of Zero’s geometric design.

Typographic Illustration for Wired

We had the privilige of being asked to create an abstract typographic illustration for the Features cover of Wired magazine. Referencing topographic maps, we layered laser cut cork to create a 3D sculpture that hides an abstract 11/16 (the magazine’s issue month) in it’s depths.
